Kitchen Manager

High Volume Seafood Restaurant - Prior Kitchen Management Experience Required

This position will be a full-time salaried managerial role with daily cooking and prep work.

The ideal candidate would be the kitchen leader under the direction of the owner and their exact specifications and guidelines. A successful candidate will employ culinary and organizational skills that will critically contribute to maintaining, upholding, and enhancing guest satisfaction and standards of excellence. Salary - $45K-$55K commensurate with experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Be transparent and honest with the owners in regards to escalated kitchen issues and problems.
  • Lead team in producing high-quality meals including, but not limited to early morning prep shifts.
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets excellence standards.
  • Act as a go-between, planner, and executor of special events and parties, working with General Manager and owner.
  • Fill in for the Sous Chef to plan and direct food preparation when necessary.
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation.
  • Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately.
  • Take bi-weekly or weekly inventory to secure orders for upcoming kitchen, food-truck, catering, and special event needs.
  • Handle any kitchen vendor issues and report any major concerns to the owners.
  • Will be in charge of hiring, scheduling, termination, and resolving personnel issues of kitchen employees after approval and notification to the owner.
  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with owners, co-workers, and patrons.
  • We expect the kitchen manager to uphold the greatest standards of cleanliness and professionalism for his/herself and the team they lead.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three years of management experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to maintain an impeccably clean and organized kitchen.
  • Understanding of various seafood and meat cooking methods, ordering demands,  ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ability to take direction and multitask while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Accuracy and speed in handling stressful situations and providing solutions.
  • Familiar with the industry’s best practices.

COMPETENCIES

Oral and Written Communication
The individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills, and conducts productive meetings. Is able to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Has the ability to write simple correspondence, and effectively present information to individuals, small groups, guests, and other employees of the organization in a responsive and timely manner.

Math Reasoning
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills
Has knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheets, and Google Suite platform.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Safety and Security
The individual observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Experience working as a leader in a commercial kitchen strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Servsafe Food Handler Certificate
Valid Driver’s License

Line Cook

PRIOR COOKING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The Garbo's restaurant has moved and is growing into its new location off of Mopac and Parmer Lane.  We are looking for a fun, friendly, and reliable team member to join our Garbo’s family. We are looking for a BOH line-cook that can handle multiple orders with a breeze all whilst maintaining the quality and consistency that has made us who we are. We are known for our lobster rolls but offer many more delectable menu items. We focus on a small menu and have occasional specials or small menu change-outs. You will report to the kitchen manager and the general manager.
